Have these ready when you call
Five details make the call short and help match parts to your appliance:
- The appliance and brand: for example, a front-load washer or an over-the-range microwave.
- What it's doing: the noise, the error code, where the water is, or what it no longer does.
- The model number, if you can find it. Each service page says where to look on that appliance.
- Your address, and anything about access: gate codes, stairs or a tight laundry closet.
- Whether it's gas or electric. Only electric appliances are serviced.
What happens after you call
We talk through what the appliance is doing, take down the details above, and set a time for a technician to come to your home. At the visit, the appliance is diagnosed and you're told what failed and what the repair involves before work starts. If a part has to be ordered, a return visit is scheduled for when it arrives.
